Driving Directions From the Metropolitan New York-New Jersey Area Take the NY State Thruway (I-90) north to Exit 24 in Albany. Follow signs to Plattsburgh and Montreal on I-87 which will turn into the Adirondack Northway. Take I-87 to Exit 30 (Keene – Keene Valley). Pick up Route 9 north and follow it for two miles to Route 73. Continue on 73 for 28 miles to Lake Placid area. Follow Main Street to Saranac Avenue. The Lake Placid Summit Hotel is approximately 250 feet up the hill on the right side. The ride is approximately 5 ½ hours from New York City. From Toronto Take 401 east to the Cornwall Bridge. Cross the bridge into Massena. Enter Route 37 east to Malone. Follow Route 30 south to Paul Smiths and pick up Route 86 at the entrance to Paul Smith’s College. Continue on 86 thru Saranac Lake and Lake Placid to Whiteface Mountain. The Lake Placid Summit Hotel is on the left side as you descend toward the Main Street business district from Saranac Avenue. From Montreal Take Route 15 south to Champlain Crossing. It will connect with the Adirondack Northway (I-87 south) after passing through U.S. customs. Leave the Northway at Exit 34 west and follow Route 9 north. Take Route 86 to Jay, Wilmington and Lake Placid. Follow Main Street to Saranac Avenue. The Lake Placid Summit Hotel is approximately 250 feet up the hill on the right side. From Boston, Springfield, Hartford Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to the New York State Thruway. Leave the Thruway at Exit 23 - Albany. Pick up I-787 North. Connect with Route 7 west to The Adirondack Northway (I-87 north). Take I-87 to Exit 30 (Keene – Keene Valley). Pick up Route 9 north and follow it for two miles to Route 73. Continue on 73 for 28 miles to Lake Placid area. Follow Main Street to Saranac Avenue. Pick up I-81 north and follow it to Watertown. Take Route 3 and follow it east to Saranac Lake. Pick up Route 86 east to Lake Placid. The Lake Placid Summit Hotel is on the left side as you descend toward the Main Street business district from Saranac Avenue.
